Explore the Store: Terrain

9 Aug

I have been a huge fan of Terrain, the home and garden website, for quite some time.  Earlier this summer, I was chatting with my dear friend, Sara Goodstein, who heads up communications at Anthropologie and she told me that Terrain was opening a store in Westport, Connecticut.  Of course the masterminds behind Anthropologie and BHLDN also created Terrain!!  I was so excited because Chris, Jack and I were planning a visit to see my sister Cheryl and her family, Pete and Will, in Bronxville so I knew they would be up for a short trip to Westport.  And, Chris’ sister, Natalie, and her family live near Westport so we would be able to see them, too!

The Saturday during our trip, we drove to Terrain and soon realized it was the perfect destination store.  The enormous store and its outdoor garden department, with its perfectly curated product vignettes, makes you feel like you’re roaming around a giant cabinet of curiosities…with some amazing gourmet foods, dishware, and beauty products thrown in!  We all had a ball walking around and shopping.  But the pièce de résistance had to be Terrain’s farm-to-table restaurant, Terrain Garden Café.

Bird Crazy

20 Jun

Birds are everywhere this season in both fashion and home décor.  Jil Sander, Reed Krakoff, and Erdem all featured bird prints for Spring 2012 while Tibi has a graphic black & white bird print for Fall 2012. I’ve also found some cool bird-inspired jewelry. With bird motifs being more of a classic theme in tabletop and home designs, here are some more unique interpretations…along with a few classic favorites!

For another classic, try Art Smith‘s Hummingbird Cake recipe for a nutty, fruity and fabulous dessert perfect with any Summer meal!

Here are some of my favorite white looks and kitchen accessories for Summer.  Have a fun and restful long weekend!

Old Hollywood Inspired

25 Feb

I was flipping through C Magazine, one of my favorite regional pubs about California and everything fabulous going on there, and I saw this gorgeous Etro dress which reminded me of old Hollywood glamour in a modern way.  With the Oscars tomorrow night, I couldn’t think of a better time to feature products that remind me of my beloved LA.  Dom Pérignon released its 2003 vintage in December with much fanfare.  Some critics are touting this vintage one of Dom Pérignon’s boldest champagnes yet. I’m literally obsessed with Michael Schunke’s goblets.  Their bold designs and gorgeous colors are just spectacular and perfect for sipping a drink while watching the Oscars!  And I just love the Tony Duquette capsule jewelry collection for Coach.  You don’t get more “Hollywood” than Michael S. Smith’s interiors!
